CMSUK conference delegates kept up-to-date with Revised Rehabilitation Prescription

The Rehabilitation Prescription is a requirement of discharge for all patients at trauma centres. Following a significant recent revision to the Rehabilitation Prescription, Unite Professionals’ Jo Evans teamed up with Karen Hoffman, Rehabilitation Consultant at Barts Health NHS Trust, to deliver a critical update to case managers at the recent CMSUK Conference.

Among the range of presentations at the CMSUK Conference, at the Royal Armories, Jo Evans and Karen Hoffman delivered a vital session to help keep case managers informed of the latest revisions to the Rehabilitation prescription.

They reported that the original prescription, which was intended to be given to all patients being discharged from Trauma Centres, had been fully updated and revised following extensive research into patient outcomes and needs. It now incorporates key information required by the patient on what injuries they had sustained, the treatment they’d received and by whom.

The prescription also lists ongoing treatment required following discharge; Jo stressed how important this was for Case Managers to evidence need of ongoing rehabilitation when making recommendations for private funding.

They also informed the audience on how a case manager could obtain a copy of the Rehabilitation Prescription and stressed that it is a requirement of all trauma centres to ensure that patients are discharged with a Rehabilitation Prescription.

CMSUK Conference

The CMSUK Conference was held over two days at the Royal Armouries in Leeds. There was a range of speakers, including presentations on prosthetics, self-harm and suicide, mediation skills for case managers in challenging situations, interventions for sleep and pain amongst other relevant and interesting topics.

There was a fantastic Christmas-themed Dinner Dance at the Royal Armouries on the first evening which was well-attended. The whole event was a great opportunity to restock any case manager’s toolkit as well as catch up and network with exhibitors in attendance.
